. . . Hmmm, Which Is Best

. . . many people plump for both, it just depends on what you’re doing!

Camping Cots are brilliant for those campers who prefer to leave a little space between themselves and the ground. To be honest, it’s very unusual for you to find a hiker or backpacker who will take a cot with him for sleeping, although some of them are pretty lightweight and fold up small it still adds considerable bulk and weight to your backpack, but for anybody who enjoys car camping or road trips then a camping cot can help you to have a great nights sleep.

Camping Cots are also great for winter camping . . . they keep you away from the coldness and dampness of the ground, not to mention the drafts!  You really can stay very warm and cozy the whole night through on a well chosen camping cot, plus sleeping pad if you like, and a cuddly sleeping bag on top.

Camping Cots are available in different designs . . . usually the way that they fold up. Do you remember those old army camp cots which had lots of different metal rods for you to insert, twist and stretch over . . . well forget those (hey, I’ve only just remembered them), these days the modern designs of camp cot mean that they simply fold away neatly and can be re-assembled in a flash.

Excuse me . . . did he say that people took them back to the hiking equipment store because they could not assemble their camping cots . . . I bet the sales people had a right old belly laugh when they’d gone. Come on people, use a little common sense, strength and have some dignity!  Maybe some enterprising hiker ought to start giving night classes for learner campers.

Camping Cots need strong fabric, but if you are like ”the camper that ate all the pies”, then it’s well worth asking the expert at the local camping or hiking equipment store whether your chosen cot is really up to the job . . . . night after night after night.  You should also remember that if you’re taller than the average camper or hiker and you fancy a cot, then make sure that it’s long enough!

He certainly looks like he enjoys the odd pie or two don’t you think . . . sorry but it’s true!

How nifty is that? It’s a tent cot . . . or is it a cot tent? Now I know he says that it’s not for hiking (even though this is a hiking and backpacking site) so you might be wondering why I’ve included it and I’ll tell you why . . . because I like it. Not sure that I’d want to be sleeping in a tent cot when the wind picked up though, could end up with a bit of a “Wizard of Oz” moment and wake up in an entirely different area to where you went to sleep. Scary!
