All About The Warmth

Camping vests . . . . oops, wait a minute, I think I’ve put this into the wrong section, you see hiking vests are very much hiking outerwear rather than hiking underwear. Anyway, never mind, hiking vests are a terrific way to keep your core temperature nice and warm in even the harshest winter conditions. Many hiking vests are simply sleeveless hiking jackets . . . oops, done it again, all hiking vests are hiking jackets without the sleeves.

Sleeveless Hiking Vests can come in extremely useful on a hiking expedition just so long as you pick out a few main pointers;

    • Hiking vests are great if they’re wind resistant, water resistant and rip tear resistant. Of course, this isn’t essential as some hiking vests make great layers for beneath hiking jackets . . . it all depends on what other items of hiking equipment you have.
    • Hiking vests need to keep your body warm but also need to be lightweight. You don’t want to trade warmth for getting heavily weighed down on the hiking trail.
    • Hiking vests with pockets are good. Zippered pockets are great for keeping important things safe (and keeping your hands warm on occasion!)
    • Hiking vests with a front zipper all the way to the top of a nice high neck can really help to keep the winds out and you cosy and warm, and a chin guard can protect you from chaffing your chin, or chins . . . whichever is appropriate for you.
