. . . but remember, less is more! Alright, we’re not talking about dressing up your “lbd” for the office Christmas party, but accessories can really make a difference to your hiking gear . . . it can put the “fun” into functionality, and it can also make the mountain trail a much more colorful place to be.  Hiking accessories can make a big difference to your comfort and style when you embark on your next hiking tour.

So what sort of things are recognized accessories for hiking and trail clothing. Surely not those flashing brooches and a string of silver tinsel (we’re briefly back with the “lbd” . . . sorry). When we’re talking hiking and trail clothing accessories we’re more along the lines of;

    • Bandanas – I find that a really difficult word to type, I keep wanting to say “bananas” and then get completely carried with “bandandas” . . . oh well, I managed in the end. Right, bandanas really can liven up your hiking outfit, with many of them being available in unbelievably brights colors and unique designs.
    • Belts- more like the sort of belt to hold up your hiking pants than one of those gold colored numbers on your lbd. You see, functional with style.

    • Gaiters – these really do add more functionality than pizzazz. Gaiters can make the very important difference between nicewarm, dry hiking socks, hiking pants, hiking boots and hiking feet . . . and cold wet ones.
    • Sunglasses – for many the ultimate accessory . . . and I don’t just mean hikers. Lots of hikers do find a good pair of sunglasses to be indispensable offering valuable protection from the suns rays, the glare of the snow and they also stop you from squishing up your eyes and causing wrinkles.  Even though hikers are often a trendy bunch, you won’t, however, find them wearing their designer sunglasses along a dark hiking trail in the way that you might find some “celebs” wearing them at all time of the night and day purely for affect.
