Camping Photography
. . . I’ts A Shame Not To Capture Those Beautiful Moments
. . . and the not so beautiful ones, but hilariously funny ones which you can bribe your hiking buddies with when the time is right. No, don’t worry, I’ll delete that one before we get home . . . promise, look, it’s gone already . . . yeah right!
Back packing and hiking takes you to some of the most beautiful and breathtaking places in the world . . . so it seems a shame to just leave it there when a few photographs can help you to take the memories home with you and look back on at your leisure. You’ll be amazed at some of the fascinating stuff you can photograph on your hiking trips:
- Wildlife- if you’re lucky. You’ve gotta be quiet though, and back pack in super stealth mode, to catch a glimpse of some of the really shy critters.
- Birds – even if you’re not really known for your twitching, (unlike Uncle Len after an iron bar hit him across the head . . . he’s been twitching ever since) – wrong twitching . . . I mean bird watching (yes, Uncle Len does that too, when Aunt Sally isn’t around). Anyway, even hikers who are not really bird enthusiasts can’t help but get enthusiastic over the great photographs you can take of your feathered friends on a hike. Even if you’re not sure what they are you can check it out on-line when you get home and compare your piccies . . . hey, did you know that I’ve photographed a very rare Lesser Spotted Red Beaked Humming Duck . . . no, well I didn’t either, but it’s right here!
- Sky – there’s loads of sky when you’re hiking, back packing and camping . . . I mean, you would think that the sky is the sky, but there’s just so much more sky when you’re out in the wilderness, with sunsets, sunrises and clouds to photograph . . . an ever changing landscape (ermmm, surely that should be skyscape – that’s better).
- Trees – it’s pretty amazing how different trees can look from different angles. The only limitation is your imagination. You know when they film an explosion for an action movie . . . and then they show you the same explosion from 18 different angles to try and make you think that 10 seconds of action lasted for 5 minutes . . . same sort of thing, try it.
- Scenery – if you thought there was a lot of sky on your hiking trips, wait until you see how much scenery there is. Scenery is everywhere, not just any old scenery either, but fabulous scenery well worthy of a photograph . . . mountains, forests, lakes, landscapes . . . go on, get snapping on your next hike and share the memories with your friends.
There are all sorts of gadgets available to help keep your camera safe between shoots, and to stop your hands from shaking when you see something exciting (or scary) coming towards you. Never mind waiting until it gets a little closer, zoom in and let’s get out of here . . . .
Some great stuff there huh? Did you notice how quiet they had to be to spot the animals at the beginning of the video . . . that’s what I was talking about (whispering about) earlier!
Some great shots there don’t you think . . . fantastic!
